Atlanta, Georgia — A recent report has shown that Georgia health insurance carrier Aetna is preferred by most Georgian residents.  For the first time in a great period of time a recent survey revealed a preferred partner for hospitals and physicians. It looks like Aetna received a 68% favorable rating by PPO’s. The standard in the area showed more like 35% was the unfavorable rating of most carriers.  Cigna health insurance carrier was a close second proving to be 10% better than most Georgia health insurance carriers.  UnitedHealthcare was standing pretty strong on ratings from most of the PPO providers.  The survey reveals the  strong preference from most hospitals based on trust, honesty, business practices and good faith negotiations.  You also have to take into account that PPO’s like these carriers more than others because they get paid more from them.  That has to be in the back of your mind when you are thinking about health carriers and doing business.
“Aetna is clearly the preferred health insurance partner for hospitals and health systems across the United States,” said Brandon Edwards, President/COO of DAVIES. “When you combine this survey data with recent publicly traded health plan earnings announcements, it’s clear that provider trust and satisfaction are leading indicators of organic membership growth. This bodes well for Aetna, and perhaps CIGNA, as they look at 2009 commercial enrollment retention, as well as 2010 commercial enrollment growth.”
We will see if this information holds true for 2009.  Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthCare, Blue Cross, Kaiser, and all of the other major carriers in Georgia are looking to reform to get rates down in the state.  Consumers and the goverment are starting to demand a change in our healthcare industry.  Do you think this will ever happen?  Would quality of care go down, or up.  We want to know what you think today…
