Income tax for Healthcare
The House of Democrats are getting closer to proposing an income surcharge tax for individuals with adjusted gross income of more than $200K and married couples over $250K to help finance insurance for all those who cannot afford coverage. They have eliminated the earlier idea of implementing payroll taxes to fund the proposed health legislation. The House is preparing to have a complete inclusive health care refurbish plan by the end of this week so they can bring it up for committee votes in the near future. Democrats backed away from their aspiration of passing health care legislation by mid August due to the heightened political debate over tax increases and an anticipated new government role in supplying insurance to consumers. What are your thoughts? Should the wealthy be taxed to support the new insurance plan?
